Grants and Funding
The 2010 Year of Volunteering (YoV) is an initiative supported by Leeds City Council and partners, and by the voluntary, community and faith sectors.
The aim of the Year of Volunteering is to:
-
celebrate and promote volunteering;
-
increase community engagement through volunteering;
-
help groups attract more volunteers and provide more volunteering opportunities; and
-
deliver a quality volunteering experience
The Leeds Community Foundation is delighted to announce a Year of Volunteering grants scheme which incudes the following:
-
YoV Community Activity Grants of £250 for people that want to take the first steps towards volunteering by working with a group of friends, neighbours or colleagues on a specific project or activity to benefit the local community. This might be to organise a street photo or children’s party, for instance. You don’t need to be a constituted group, we will accept applications from informal groups of “active citizens” that want to do something positive. Deadlines for grant applications are 28 February 2010 and 30 April 2010. If there is any funding left, a final grants scheme will be held in June 2010.
-
Grassroots Grants of between £250 and £900 for groups whose average income, for the past three years, has been under £30,000 a year. This can be to support events and activities or to buy capital equipment. You need to be a constituted group and have been active for at least 12 months. The programme is a rolling one, with applications being submitted at any time during the year.
The criteria for the scheme is quite broad. You might:
-
Be holding an event
-
Want to recruit new volunteers or celebrate the work of your current volunteers
-
Need something to help your organisation offer a more quality volunteering experience
-
Be looking to expand the kind of support that volunteers can provide in your organisation
