Interested in volunteering?
People decide to volunteer for all sorts of reasons. Volunteering is given freely and should always be your choice and your decision.
Volunteering can:
- Help you meet other people and widen your social circle
- Build up your CV
- Help you learn new skills and discover new interests
- Teach you about your community
- Gain an accreditation
- Use the skills and experiences you already have
- Help some people with their self confidence and self esteem
How can you find out about volunteering? Look at the what’s happening page on this site to find out what’s going on in your area during 2010 and how you can get involved.
You can also contact or visit Volunteer Centre Leeds where they can help you to find an opportunity that suits you, your interests and lifestyle.
If you are a student and wish to volunteer abroad a good starting place is platform 2 funded by UK aid and the Department for International Development (DFID)
