Before I came to Oblong I'd designed a couple of web sites for charities and taught myself html and CSS. I also designed my own web site to display my paintings.
At Oblong I mainly do web design. Sometimes I also help train other volunteers in web design and Photoshop.
I like working at Oblong as it encourages me to use and learn new web design skills; and meet new people.
My hobbies also include landscape photography, painting and music (jazz).
Deirdre
I started my work placement at Oblong in November 2004. This has led on to voluntary work for Oblong Design Collective.
I have enjoyed my time at Oblong as this helped me improve my IT skills.
I co-designed websites for local artist and complimentary therapy sessions.
I have also co-designed Oblong Annual Report, Oblong leaflets and membership cards, posters, party invitations and cards. I have done some image preparation for Hurley Burley Newsletter and Arise magazine.

I have several years experience in grahics using software such as PageMaker, QuarkXpress, CorelDraw, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Mostly using PC's all my life, I've used all vesions of Windows from version 3.1 to Vista!!
My experience: currently working freelance; I've even printed self printed items from time to time using a Risograph Digital Duplicator from a spare room!!!Mostly experienced in print graphics. Also studying for a print, packaging and graphics degree at the University of Leeds.
Joe
At university I studied conceptual design and design theory. After university I moved into doing illustration, as drawing has always been a hobby of mine. I joined the Design Collective in October 2007 to get more work experience and develop better people skills.
Outside of work I enjoy going to the pub or watching world cinema films.
Sue
I am interested in graphic design and web design. I spent many years as a professional graphic artist working both for other companies and for myself. I have experience of a wide range of work including leaflets, brochures, catalogues, advertising, packaging, illustration and photo-retouching. I am currently learning web design utilising many of the skills I already have as a graphic artist.
My other interests include growing fruit and vegetables on my allotment and learning British Sign Language.
